Why Magnolias Grow on Trees
And so, as The God of Flowers did nothing to stop the magnolias from being eaten, thinking The Goddess should be happy that the creatures wanted to eat the magnolias and taste their sweetness, because the love He felt for The Goddess deserved to be noticed.
The ground dried out, leaving barren patches of cracked dirt where flowers used to grow. She refused to let anything flourish in these places that used to be blanketed with magnolias because these places were once special. The Goddess of Soil was so sad. She believed that The God of Flowers had stooped loving her. Soon The Goddess’s love for The God began to wane because she felt unloved.
The God of Flowers then understood that he would have to protect the flowers to preserve his union with The Goddess. He tried to remove the sweet aroma from the flowers, but that felt wrong. He then tried to change the amount of love he put into each flower, but that was too did not feel right.
